In Loving Memory of Theodore Hawryluk
Theodore Hawryluk, age 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, June 7th, surrounded by his daughter and wife. A devoted husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and deep love for his family and friends.
He was born on August 14, 1946, in Germany, the son of the late Alex and Katherine Hawryluk (Krot). Ted lived a life guided by integrity, hard work, devotion, and compassion. He was known for his gentle nature, generosity, sharp sense of humor, and wisdom, and he touched the lives of so many with his steady presence and selfless heart.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eva; their daughter, Oksana (Paul); and their granddaughters, Autumn and Rylee, who will continue to carry his spirit forward in the stories they share, the traditions they keep, and the love they pass on. He is also survived by his brother, John.
Ted had a passion for fixing computers, boating, scuba diving, traveling, watching the Bears, playing with his granddaughters, snowmobiling, golfing, and playing volleyball. He also found joy in the simple moments—working in the yard, sitting outside by the lake, enjoying family dinners, and spending time with groups close to his heart: the 885 Civic Club and the Masonic Lodge.
A funeral service and visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Symonds Lakes Funeral Home, 111 W. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030. The burial will take place on Thursday, June 12th, at 10:45 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Ted’s grandchildren’s education fund—a cause he cared deeply about, always wanting to give them the best possible future. The education fund is in care of Oksana Poulos.
Though words cannot capture the depth of our sorrow, we are endlessly grateful for the years we shared. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
