Maria Miu

Maria Miu, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026 at the age of 75. She will be remembered for her strength, her determination, and the deep love she shared with her family and everyone who knew her.

Born on February 14, 1951 in Valea Macrisului, Romania, Maria immigrated to Chicago in 1990 with her husband and her two daughters.  She built a life centered around family, compassion, and dedication to those she cared about. Throughout her life, she was known for her warmth, generosity, and the way she brought people together.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ion Miu, and her loving daughters, Camelia Miu and Alina Thompson (Jason Thompson), who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of those she loved.

Maria will be remembered for her lively spirit, her resilience, and the many ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed but her love and legacy will live on through her family and friends.

         She will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

A visitation will be held on March 18th, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Meiszner Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her life and share memories.  Funeral will be held Thursday, March 19th, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Romanian Orthodox Church at 2417 N Campbell Ave, Chicago IL 60647.  Procession following to Rosehill Cemetery for burial service.
